 Trudi
Van Dyke is Gallery Director and Curator of the Ellipse
Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia. Recent Curatorial
projects include: Aachen Meets Arlington, Ludwig Forum
for International Kunst, Aachen, Germany; Threefold: Perceptions,
1708 Gallery, Richmond, VA; as well as 6 annual exhibitions
at the Ellipse including this season: Way Off the Rack:
Sculptural Clothing; and Looking Back/Moving Forward (a
ten year retrospective of the gallery).
She
has served as a panelist for the Virginia Commission for
the arts and has juried local, regional and national shows.
She has been selected for critical writing residencies
at the Maryland Art Place (Baltimore, MD) and 1708 Gallery
(Richmond, VA). She earned a BS degree at Davis and Elkins
College and an MS from Montana State University.

Entries: Artists may submit three slides for judging two-dimensional
works, or six slides for judging sculptures (maximum
two views each.)
Selection: The juror will select the exhibition
from 35mm color slides in standard 2x2” mounts,
labeled as in the example. Use only silver mylar tape
for cropping. The committee reserves the right to
withhold entries from exhibition.
Eligibility: Open to all artists, 18 years
or older, living within a 100-mile radius of Blacksburg
or Pulaski, VA (see map below).
All media (except handicrafts) are eligible. They must be original, done without supervision, and
completed since January 1, 1999. All 2-D work should
be framed, wired, and ready for hanging. Frame size
should not exceed 48” in height or width, 6”
in depth. Works on paper should use plexiglass (no
glass or clip frames.) All 3-D works should not exceed
80 lb., 7” height or 8 square feet of floor space. |
Liability: Works will be insured by The Fine Arts Center while
on display. It is suggested that artists wishing additional
protection insure their works independently.
Agreement: Submission of entry materials is
an agreement to show any work selected, and constitutes
an agreement to comply with all conditions set forth
in this prospectus. Permission to reproduce entries
is assumed.
Delivery and Return of Works: Accepted 2-D
works should be labeled with securely attached I.D.
forms on the back upper left-hand corner. Sculptures
should be labeled on the base. Works must be hand-delivered
to The Fine Arts Center on Thursday, November 1, 2001,
between 1 and 5 PM. Works accepted in the exhibition
must be picked up on Friday, January 4, 2001, between
1 and 5 PM. |
Sales: A 30%
commission will be taken on all sales by the gallery.
Awards: Awards will be made from actual work.
One $500 President’s Award, Patrons’ cash
award of $250 each, Awards of Merit $100.00 each,
and additional awards (to be announced) will be
named at the discretion of the juror.
